Damn it, Niantic is clever. Every time I try to extricate myself from Pokémon GO, they have a special event that drags me back in. If you’re already out, I doubt that the latest in-game event will sucker you back in, but it’s going to be fun for the trainers who are still playing.

The Equinox Celebration will net you double Stardust for every Pokémon you catch and egg you hatch. You’ll also be able to collect some special 2km eggs that have the chance to hatch some much higher level Pokémon than your normal 2km eggs. You can expect to see Chansey, Mareep, Larvitar, and more popping out of those special eggs, so as usual, get your walking shoes on!

For some extra goodness, registering a new Pokémon in your Pokédex will net you triple the normal XP. Niantic has suggested this would be a great time to battle some of the Legendary Pokémon doing the rounds right now. Raikou, Entei, and Suicune will be switching international regions on September 30, so now is an excellent time to go head to head and potentially register two legendries during the celebration.

And, of course, what special event would be complete without getting you to spend some money! There will be special boxes available to buy in the in-game shop with Lucky Eggs, Lure Modules and brand new Super Incubators which hatch Eggs 1.5 times faster. That’s a boon for those annoying 10km eggs that take freaking forever to hatch, but I don’t know if they’ll help with the disappointment of hatching yet another Sudowoodo after a week of wandering around. Seriously, what is it going to take for me to hatch a Snorlax already?

The Equinox Celebration will run from 13h00 PDT on September 22 (that’s 22h00 CAT on September 21) to 13h00 PDT on October 2, 2017 (so 22h00 on October 1). See you out there!
