As winter is drawing ever closer (and summer in the northern hemisphere), Pokémon Go has a new event in the form of a Solstice celebration. So get your winter clothes out the closet trainers, you’re going to be outside a lot in the coming week!
Starting today, the Solstice event will bring more Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon spawns. Keep an eye out for Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. The rarer Fire and Ice-types will also be spawning, so there’s a good chance of catching a Sneasel or Lapras in the wild. I caught a Sneasel first thing this morning, but mainly I’ll be chasing Cyndaquil as I have yet to evolve it!
Instead of adding a double-XP or faster hatching to this event, Niantic has instead included XP bonuses for your catching. You’ll get more XP when you successfully catch Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. To encourage you to get out and about, you’ll also receive more XP when you hatch an egg.
Lastly, what Pokemon event would be complete without a shop discount? This time, to help you along with the XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs are 50% off. Sadly there’s no new hat this time.
Having kicked off at 22h00 GMT+2 (13h00 PDT) on 13 June, the Solstice Celebration will run until the Solstice on June 20, 2017, at 22h00 GMT+2 (1:00 P.M. PDT).

Fine! I have to train the new kitty to walk on a leash anyway.
