America’s biggest sporting event of the year, the Super Bowl, took place this past weekend and while we care very little for NFL, the Super Bowl broadcast is always a goldmine of new trailers and TV spots for upcoming films and shows. Here’s a round-up of all the teasers and trailers from this weekend.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Written and directed by James Gunn in what will be his last Marvel movie before taking over the reins at DC, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 once again follows the adventures of Guardians Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel), along with Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), and alternative timeline Gamora (Zoe Saldana) from Avengers: Endgame. Plus there’s the new addition of Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) – but we’re not sure which side he’s on yet.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits cinemas May 5, 2023, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.

The Flash

Speaking of James Gunn, though he wasn’t technically involved in this one, The Flash is undoubtedly going to be used as the springboard for Gunn’s new unified DC Universe. In The Flash, Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for.

The Flash darts into cinemas on 16 June.

AIR: Courting a Legend

The chase for greatness. Inspired by true events, AIR tells the story of Nike salesman Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon) who works to sign Michael Jordan to a landmark deal, launching the iconic “Air Jordan” shoe line. AIR is directed by Ben Affleck who also stars as Nike’s CEO Phil Knight, and the cast includes Viola Davis, Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker, Jason Bateman, Matthew Maher and Chris Messina.

AIR is exclusively in theaters 5 April 2023.

Creed III

More of a quick hype trailer than anything else, the Creed III Big Game Spot doesn’t show us much more than we saw in the first trailer. After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life. When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy Damian (Jonathan Majors) resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter who has nothing to lose.

Creed III hits cinemas 3 March 2023.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Harrison Ford returns as the legendary hero archaeologist in the fifth installment of the iconic Indiana Jones franchise, which is directed by James Mangold. Starring alongside Ford – who is briefly de-aged by CGI for a flashback scene – are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen.

The latest, and final Ford as Indy adventure is slated for release on 30 June 2023.

Fast X

In the second to last installment in the long-running Fast & Furious franchise, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) must protect his crew and family from Cipher (Charlize Theron), who now joins forces with Dante (Jason Momoa), the son of drug kingpin Hernan Reyes, who is seeking revenge for his father’s death during the events of Fast Five.

Fast X is scheduled to be released on May 19, 2023.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

This short TV spot introduces Mirage, a new Autobot making his debut as a legendary Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which is a follow-up to Bmblebee in the big screen Transformers timeline, is in cinemas 9 June, 2023.

Scream VI

Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. However, they soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when a new killer embarks on a bloody rampage. Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere and Courteney Cox return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.

Scream VI releases 10 March 2023, promising more inventive, gorier deaths than ever before.
