September 2023 on Disney+ is a good month for returning series, and a load of notable new movie additions.

On the returning show front there’s the likes of The Kardashians Season 4 from 28 September, and everyone’s favourite plant superhero in I Am Groot Season 2, streaming from 6 September. Then don’t forget ongoing limited series Star Wars: Ahsoka, with a new episode every Wednesday.

The Little Mermaid (Film)

Missed Disney’s live-action remake of animated classic The Little Mermaid on the big screen? Now you can watch it at home, exclusively on Disney+, from 6 September. Halle Bailey plays Ariel, a spirited young mermaid who makes a deal with Ursula the Sea Witch (Melissa McCarthy) to experience life on land after she falls for Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King). The Other Black Girl (Series)

Part sharp social commentary, part psychological thriller, The Other Black Girl is based on the New York Times bestseller by Zakiya Dalila Harris. Nella (Sinclair Daniel) is tired of being the only black girl at her company, so she’s excited when Hazel (Ashleigh Murray) is hired. However, Hazel’s arrival soon leads to strange events and Nella suspecting something sinister is going on. Watch The Other Black Girl in its 10-episode entirely from 13 September.

Welcome to Wrexham (Series)

If you love Ted Lasso, and haven’t checked out real-life documentary series Welcome to Wrexham, now’s your chance. Season 2 kicks off with weekly episodes from 13 September. In Welcome to Wrexham, American actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds navigate running the 3rd oldest professional football club in the world, which is based in a struggling working-class town in North Wales. In Season 2, the community struggles with their newfound celebrity, and Wrexham players with performance pressure.

The King’s Man (Film)

It’s not exactly a new release, but from 13 September you can catch Kingsman prequel, and third film in this espionage action series, The King’s Man. Set on the cusp of WWI, The King’s Man looks at the formation of the independent world-saving organisation, which steps up to defeat history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds. The cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, and Djimon Hounsou.


Nightmare Alley (Film)

For your more prestige entertainment kicks, check out Nightmare Alley, the most recent live-action film effort from Oscar-winning Guillermo del Toro. Based on the classic crime noir novel, in Nightmare Alley, an ambitious carny (Bradley Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people, meets a female psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is. The star-studded cast also includes Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara and Ron Perlman. Watch from 20 September.


No One Will Save You (Film)

This sci-fi thriller centres on outcast Brynn Adams (Justified and Booksmart’s Kaitlyn Dever), a creative but lonely young woman who finds solace in her home. It’s a fairly standard situation, until Brynn wakes one night to strange noises. So begins an action-packed face-off between our hero and a host of extraterrestrial invaders, who force Brynn to consider her past and future. Prey fans will want to watch No One Will Save You from 22 September.
