The first week of the month means there are plenty of dedicated articles on upcoming games and streaming content. Here’s what else has made headlines, and caught our eye, this week.
Film
The first trailer dropped for mega-all-star Red Notice, starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. The action comedy, about an FBI agent pursuing dangerous rival art thieves, comes to Netflix on November 12.
We got our first look at Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, a movie adaptation that promises to be more faithful to the beloved Capcom series of video games. Hitting theatres from November, Welcome to Raccoon City leans into horror over sci-fi. More info and images here.
In terms of casting news, Captain America and Black Widow will be sharing the screen again. Translation: Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson will star in a Romancing the Stone-style romantic adventure called Ghosted – from the writers of Deadpool and Zombieland. More here.
Biopics Spencer, starting Kristen Stewart, and The Eyes of Tammy Faye, with Jessica Chastain, revealed top tier posters. You can also watch the brand new trailer for the Princess Diana film here.
Television
We have our first trailer for Amazon Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time, based on Robert Jordan’s 14-book fantasy series. The series debuts on November 19. You can see official images of the cast here.
Gaming
Pokémon GO makers Niantic have finally revealed their taskforce findings, and plans for the mobile game, after a controversial decision to roll back certain changes implemented at the start of the pandemic. After first doubling down on their decision to remove what many considered important “quality of life” improvements, Niantic was forced to reconsider after mass player anger and public outrage. More here.
We learned more about the various editions of upcoming open-world adventure, sequel and PS exclusive, Horizon Forbidden West – out in February next year. Learn more here. Just be careful about what version of the game you get, as only some support both PS4 and PS5 (i.e. you won’t be able to move your game to a newer console later).
Comics and superheroes
Last year’s DC FanDome was one of the few digital convention success stories. Well, the free-to-stream event is back this year on October 16, with promised new looks at movies like The Batman, The Flash and Black Adam, more on the Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad games, and assorted other announcements about TV series, animated projects and comics of course.
