Dropping this recap today as Thursday got away from us wage slaves, but honestly, Wednesday’s animation focused installment of Netflix Geeked Week 2022 wasn’t what we were hoping for. For the most part.

On our wish list was a greenlit announcement for Love Death + Robot Vol. 4, a first look at Arcane Season 2, and a sneak peek at the upcoming Tomb Raider anime, with Hayley Atwell voicing the daredevil adventurer.

What we actually got? Love Death + Robots and Arcane both featured in the livestream, but only in the form of Making Of featurettes (five-part docuseries Arcane: Bridging the Rift is coming to the Riot Games Youtube channel on 4 August). Slightly more exciting is that Netflix user can now use Arcane characters as their profile icons.

As for show renewals, Kevin Smith’s divisive take on He-Man is coming back. From Season 1, subtitled Revelations, we now progress to Masters of the Universe: Revolution. Conspiracy theory-focused Inside Job is also returning for a second season “soon.” Then there was a sneak peek at the highly anticipated fourth season of fantasy The Dragon Prince, the multi-award winning series from the head writer and co-executive producer of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and co-director of video game Uncharted 3.

Otherwise, it was an anime-heavy Geeked Week session, and as we’re not big fans of that animation style, our interest wavered. You can watch the full two-hour presentation below, or read about everything announced here via the official Netflix recap. We have chosen our standout announcements though, which sit below this video.

If you loved the eyeball-searing animation of Into the Spider-Verse and Arcane, check out Entergalactic, from the mind of Grammy-winning rapper and singer Kid Cudi, and Kenya Barris. Featuring an all-star voice cast, including Cudi, Jessica Williams, Timothée Chalamet, Vanessa Hudgens, and Jaden Smith, Entergalactic is a musical romance for adults. It tells the story of two young artists navigating the twists and turns of finding love in New York City.

Entergalactic comes to Netflix this Northern Hemisphere autumn.

The dark, futuristic world of video game Cyberpunk 2077 is expanding to the small screen in the form of new anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. CD PROJEKT RED, the game devs behind Cyberpunk 2077, have collaborated with acclaimed Japanese animation studio Studio Trigger, to make the edgy, very R-rated 10-episode series.

Edgerunners is a standalone tale about a street kid who evolves into an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk — in dangerous, body modification-obsessed Night City.

The Geeked Week presentation also included an exclusive one-minute clip from the upcoming series, and the reveal of a new poster. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners comes to Netflix this September.
