Honestly, this February isn’t the most jam-packed line-up of new content for Disney+. Maybe they want you in cinemas to check out Captain America: Brave New World, which releases on 14 February.

That said, Disney+ has a fully stocked catalogue of Valentine’s favourites to sample, including the likes of Pretty Woman, Titanic and 10 Things I Hate About You. And there are some notable returning shows to the streamer this month, like the acclaimed Abbott Elementary (Part 1 of Season 4) and ever-compelling The Kardashians (Season 6), with the former enjoying eight new episodes from 26 February, and the latter getting weekly episode drops from 6 February. Below, though, are the notable new series and specials making their small screen debut this month.

The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl (Musical Special)

The Lion King’s 30th anniversary year wrapped in December, but audiences worldwide can enjoy the festivities for a bit longer with this recording of a massive celebratory concert that took place at the Hollywood Bowl. Performers who brought The Lion King to life on stage and screen are united together for the first time, including Lebo M, Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, Heather Headley and Bradley Gibson, with special guests North West and Jennifer Hudson.

The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl begins streaming on 7 February.

Win or Lose (Animated Series)

Win or Lose is Pixar Animation Studios’ first original series, and follows the intertwined stories of eight different characters (including anxious kids, helicopter parents and a lovesick umpire) in the lead up to, and playing out of, a middle school championship softball game. The series delves into their feelings and unique perspectives. As a sidenote, Win or Lose has already made headlines, for the erasure of a transgender storyline for one of its characters.

Win or Lose launches on Disney+ on 19 February, with its first two episodes out of eight.

A Thousand Blows (Series)

Fans of period crime drama Peaky Blinders will definitely want to check out the latest from that show’s creator. Inspired by real-life events and figures, A Thousand Blows is set in the brutal East End of 1880s London, and explores the underworld of gangs, boxing and intense rivalries. Jamaican newcomers Hezekiah (Malachi Kirby) and Alec (Francis Lovehall) thrive in the bare-knuckle boxing scene, attracting the attention of Mary Carr (Erin Doherty), Queen of the all-women pickpocket ring known as the Forty Elephants, and Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham), kingpin of the illicit boxing world.

All 12 episodes of A Thousand Blows are available from 21 February.
