The Bad Guys
Based on the children’s book series of the same name by Aaron Blabey, The Bad Guys is an animated crime-comedy-drama from Dreamworks and Universal Pictures.
After a lifetime of legendary heists, notorious criminals Mr. Wolf (Sam Rockwell), Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos), Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson) and Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina) are finally caught. To avoid a prison sentence, the animal outlaws must pull off their most challenging con yet — becoming model citizens. Under the tutelage of their mentor, Professor Marmalade, the dubious gang sets out to fool the world that they’re turning good.
The Last Bus
The 2021 drama, The Last Bus, finally reaches our shores this week. Directed by Gillies MacKinnon, The Last Bus stars Timothy Spall as an elderly gentleman who travels the length of the United Kingdom to scatter his late wife’s ashes. Using his free local bus pass to take a nostalgic trip, Tom becomes an internet celebrity along the way.
Thando
In the new local drama, Thandoʼs life is hanging by a thread. Her entire community is fraught with gender-based violence, peer pressure, bullying and socio-economic challenges. Thando meets an older man who introduces her to the finer things in life. Her affair with her “Blesser” crumbles when pregnancy befalls her, but itʼs the viral video of her being bullied at school that sends her completely over the edge.
