After a bumper week at the movies last weekend, with multiple newcomers, this Friday things are A LOT more subdued, with just two debuts at South African cinemas. But not for long! November sees the release of The Marvels, Wish, Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, and The Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

Dear David is a techno horror film based on the viral 2017 Twitter thread by BuzzFeed comic artist Adam Ellis. Played by Augustus Prew, Adam responds to Internet trolls with anger, only to become haunted by the ghost of a dead child named David. Personally, I wouldn’t rush out to watch this one. It’s just 8% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Sure to find loads of love in the arthouse cinemas is The Miracle Club, a heartwarming drama about friendship and faith, starring Maggie Smith, Laura Linney and Kathy Bates. In 1967, a group of women from Ballygar, outside Dublin, win a pilgrimage to the sacred French town of Lourdes. The friends set out on a journey that they hope will change their lives, and it does, though it opens old wounds.
