The month of October is ending with a bang, thanks to a South African-set Bollywood biopic, standup comedy special, mountain adventure-themed film festival, the final Hunger Games movie re-release, and three notable international movies coming to South African cinemas this Friday. Here’s what you need to know about the diverse new features hitting the big screen this week.


In the mood for a horror movie the weekend before Halloween? Check out video game adaptation Five Nights at Freddy’s from Blumhouse and Universal Pictures. Security guard Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), accepts a night-time job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, an abandoned family entertainment center with a dark past. Now, its four animatronic mascots kill anyone there after midnight.


One for families is animated musical adventure Trolls Band Together. In this second sequel to the hit Trolls, and Trolls World Tour, Poppy (voiced by Anna Kendrick) discovers that Branch (Justin Timberlake) was once part of a boy band with his brothers Floyd (Troye Sivan), John Dory (Eric André), Spruce (Daveed Digg), and Clay (Kid Cudi). When Floyd is kidnapped, Branch and Poppy set out to reunite the family.


In action comedy Freelance, an ex Special Forces operative (John Cena) takes a job to provide security for a disgraced journalist (Alison Brie) as she interviews the dictator of a fictional South American country. When a military coup breaks out in the middle of the interview, they are forced to escape into the jungle, with said dictator in tow, where the trio must survive.
