It’s that time of the week: when we outline all the new movies coming to South African cinemas this week. Included with the two new features below are two more niche offerings: Bollywood romcom Ishq Vishk Rebound and this week’s Throwback Cinema re-release at select Ster Kinekors: pulp adventure The Mummy (1999).

Can you call something a musical biopic if there’s no actual music performance? Girl You Know It’s True tells the true story of late-1980s/early-1990s music duo Milli Vanilli. The Grammy Award-winning pair were at the centre of one of the most infamous scandals in pop music history when it was revealed that European dancers Rob Pilatus (from Germany) and Fab Morvan (from France) were lip-syncing to pre-recorded tracks. Starring Elan Ben, Ali Tijan Njie and Matthias Schweighöfer.

For your B-grade action thriller kicks, make a date with Chief of Station. After learning that the death of his wife was not an accident, a former CIA officer and Station Chief (played by Aaron Eckhart) is forced back into the espionage underworld, teaming up with an adversary to unravel a conspiracy that challenges everything he thought he knew. Also with Olga Kurylenko, Alex Pettyfer and Daniel Bernhardt. Reviewers call this one generic but quite watchable.
