Two films open in South Africa this Friday. In a relatively rare occurrence, both are targeted at mature minded viewers who savour something richer from their cinema visits. Just as unusual, both movies are also releasing in America on the exact same day as locally.

She Said

In topical drama (and true story) She Said, New York Times reporters Megan Twohey (Carey Mulligan) and Jodi Kantor (Zoe Kazan) together break one of the most important stories in a generation. Their Pultizer Prize-winning investigative journalism results in an exposé that helped launch the “Me Too” movement, shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood, and altered American culture forever. The Menu

Eat the rich! Or at least make sure their sins return to leave a bitter taste in their mouth. In horror comedy The Menu, a couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) travels to a coastal island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish gastronomical experience for his ultra-wealthy patrons. As the evening unfolds, delight gives way to shocking surprises. Also starring Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, and John Leguizamo.
