In terms of blockbusters, there’s only one “big” big screen release this week, and how excited you might be will of course wholly depend on how you feel about the Sony Spider-Man Universe at large.
Elsewhere on screens, K-Pop fans can join SEVENTEEN’s Right Here World Tour in limited Nu Metro and Ster Kinekor cinemas for a performance screened live from Japan on 15 December. If you’re looking for something more festive, your Throwback Cinema offering this week is the Macaulay Culkin classic Home Alone.
Also showing in limited cinemas from this weekend are action film Weekend in Taipei with Luke Evans; and the musical comedy drama Kneecap about the Irish hip-hop trio from Belfast, Northern Ireland, which stars the the band members as themselves and Michael Fassbender in a supporting role.
After several rounds of release date delays, reshoots and “strategic rescheduling”, Kraven the Hunter is finally set to grace our screens. This action-packed, decidedly R-rated origin story looks at the how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Kraven (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world but also one of its most feared. Alongside Taylor-Johnson, Kraven the Hunter co-stars Ariana DeBose as voodoo priestess Calypso Ezili and Russell Crowe as Kraven’s crime lord father, Nikolai Kravinoff.
